So I have been lurking on this forum for about 6 months in prep to do my first OC. Well all the items have arrived and I have started my OC obsession. I have read a bunch of posts and all have been great so far, but I still have a few questions.
1) I have read many posts about what test to use to test stability. Does it really matter if I use SP4000 or Prime95
1a) I have read some people like the Blend some like Small FFTs and some like the Large FFT?
(I have been using blend for now and looks like I need to do some real world tests and others as some other posts suggest.)
I have begun the overclocking process and it looks like at stock voltage I can get 2.6 stable with my opti 165. I have been bumping the voltage up a bit and found that at 1.475v I can get to 2.7 and am in the process of running an overnight stress test for stability. My question #2 is
2)Is 1Mhtz worth .1v or would it be best for system stability and processor life to stick with the 2.6 at stock?
Oh yeah at 2.6 at stock voltage the temps are all nice and low. When I push it a bit and go for 2.7 CPU is around 45-46, PWMIC is at 45, and chipset is at 44-45. I did test out the small FFT test and that seemed to cause the PWMIC to go to about 52. Any and all comments welcomed.
Great board and thanks for the many late hours I have spent doing research on this site and beginning this OC. The first night I was up till 3am messing around.
