OC mod fan help

i currently have a gainward 5600 that im currently going to mod a CPU fan onto....to overclock it ALOT more(the current fan is actually pathetic)...mostly becuase im getting either a x800pro a 6800gt and only need this card to last a little while longer......what i need to know though is, is it possible to plug a 80mm 3wire fan into the v-cards 2 plug connector......and will/how much will my stock socket A cpu fan reduce v-card temps? i dont know where to post at...and since im doing it to OC i figure this is as good as any.

I dont think that its a good idea even if you want to try and mod the wires to fit. The video card can only give some much power through that connector and your likely to burn it out attaching a big fan. Best bet is to either tie the fan into the psu line or make room on the motherboard. the stock socket a cooler should be a nice upgrade over the stock one, and should provide some nice temperatures for you

AH ty.....i greatly appreciate it....i have a 3pin - 4 pin psu adapter that came with my 80mm case fans.....itll mean the fan is running at a constant speed but oh well....ty for your help

Who says you have to plug the fan into the video card??

noone did...i just wanted to do it that way....but as i last resort im willing to plug it into the psu.....which really isnt that bad i just wanted to see if i could do it with the v-card connector

im also thinking about having the cpu fan blow AWAY from the gpu and putting 1 of these http://www.antec.com/us/pro_details_cooling.php?ProdID=77094 right underneat it......so that the hot air doesnt just stay near the v-card....im also looking for ways of securing the fan to the gpu if anyone has any suggestions....
