So I am using the PC in sig and attempted to OC to 4.4 so under Adjust CPU ratio but it wouldn't boot. Even when I'd go into the BIOS it would freeze up. Only after a few tries did I get settings back to default and it works fine.
 
You are aware that you can clear the BIOS without turning on the pc right?

yup, this is the reason some high end boards have a clear cmos button instead of the jumper. For when you push it too far and it won't boot. I've seen others that will automagically detect this and revert settings for you.
 
Or some others have a keyboard button to hold to revert to default.

I think one my old MSI boards had this option... check your manual OP. It makes OC'ing a lot easier if you don't have to constantly clear via the jumper.
 
It does scare the shit out of you the first time though. You start wondering if you broke something etc., especially after the second boot cycle won't go through. It usually takes some time to get things right, or it can be golden the first time you try it like it was with my 2.8c Northwood to 3.5 on an Abit IS7.

Sometimes the first time starts out a little ugly. ;)
 
So I did manage to get it to 4.2 fine any ideas on getting it to 4.4? Not looking to go higher than that.
 
try multiplier 45 and voltage cpu 1.35, and test the stability and lower the cpu voltage if possible.
 
Welcome to the wonderful world of failed overclocks! :D

Multi to 44, voltage at 1.3V. Test if stable, if it is, reduce voltage one notch. Rinse and repeat until unstable. Two ticks back up on volts and you're good to go.
