Is it possible to install one of these on a card that has a double slot backplane without removing said backplane? The fans on my golden sample drive me up the bloody wall, at least a couple of orders of magnitude louder than everything else in the system. But looking at pictures of them i dont think id have too much look fitting it because of the way the back of the card is designed.

Prob didnt explain myself too well. It has a double slot cooler on, so the stock metal bit, with the dvi connectors on, covers up both the hole where teh agp slot is, and the hole for the first pci slot. So i was wondering if the silencer would have room to blow air out?

If you mean where the bracket that attaches to your case takes up 2 slots. And instead of venting out of those slits in that piece the silencer comes with it just hits the wall there. Then what you need to do is go over to frozencpu.com and get the new bracket. It replaces the one on your video card with a single slot one so you can also use the one that comes with the NV silencer and exhaust the hot air. I had this prob with my 6800gt from gainward that had a double bracket and it fixed it right up.

is what you want.

this is the nearest i can find. Essentially, the metal part at the very back of the card is twice as wide as it should be. Cant find any pics that illustrate it properly.

Thanks for the link, it says it ships with the vga silencer now, so that sorts that little quandry out for me.

Just a thought but the default cooler looks like it may cool better than the NV 5 (i'll get flamed for that one!). My NV 5 never made good contact with the core and memory. You might consider either replacing the stock fans with a different fan(s) or you could just slow the existing fans down via a fan controller (may involve some cutting and splicing). Just a thought.

That support bracket that screws into your case comes off the card with some screws, easy to swap out.
My NV5 needed alot of lapping to get it to contact with the GPU and memory right.
Gotta go with Mr_Gl@ss ,
You might try lapping the HS and adding some AS5 to it first,
document the temps,before and after
let us know

Just took a closer look at the pic of the card in your link, that HS looks alot like the NV5 HS. Air flow is the only differance
Go with a lap dance I'd say

I was after more the silencer part than the cooling. I may look into mounting 2 80mm fans instead. Ill post when im done.
