Nvidia - Minimap detail?

I've been an ATI man for 7 years, but made the jump to Nvidia because the 580 was just too desirable for my new rig..

I just can't find 'minimap detail level' in Nvidia cp?.. I mean does it have it? it makes textures look 10x better! I can't find it anywhere, I can't imagine it being ati exclusive?..
 
Are you talking about mip mapping? I think that's kind of old-school honestly. You probably actually want to enable Anisotropic filtering. It's all the rage these days.

You can force it to 16x in the driver control panel if a game doesn't have a setting for it.

Nearly as old as textures, but it's not going anywhere.

If the OP means what I think he means, it's not accessible through the control panel any more, but you can change it with nVidia Inspector (called LOD bias).

But if you ask me, it's best left at the default. Usually buys you little more than a shitload of aliasing.
 
Nvidia's control panel does not have an option for the user to mess with mip-mapping directly. They set the level at a high quality and just leave it there, since lowering it doesn't really bring a large amount of performance gains. Leave all of the "optimization" settings at off and you'll have image quality on par with AMD's with mip-mapping at high.

Nooo, not mip-mapping, mini mapping ;) completely diff to Anisotropic filtering, it like somehow makes textures have a more detailed bumpmapped looked to them, I'm not sure exactly what it does it just makes it look better. someone please test on an ati card and post
