nvidia driver problems

well i recently sold my 5900xt to a friend and decided to get a 6800OC. the text was blurry so i used driver cleaner and reinstalled drivers, i noticed it had lots of files in the "fies not found" colum. whatever i return it and get a 6800gt, text is crisp but my fps in games isnt that good. i ran the cs:s video stress test and got 60 fps (85hz (it does go higher than 60)) on 1280x1204 with 2aa/2af. those not being very good numbers i reintall drivers again and again but still files not found when cleaning. so im pretty sure my fps isnt doing so great because of my drivers being corrupt. any help on what to do? i really dont want to reformat because i got alot of music and movies on this computer. thanks

When you're re-installing the drivers, how are you doing it? the proper way is to

1) Uninstall drivers from Control Panel
2) Unplug the Network Cable (need to sever internet connection, or windows will automatically download drivers from Windows Update on reboot)
3) Restart into Safe Mode
4) Open Driver cleaner.
5) I recommend going into the options and telling it to backup the registry, files, folders..
5) Run Driver Cleaner for nVidia (it will not find alot of files, but it will probably still kill off like 3 or 4
6) Restart in Normal mode, with Network cable still unplugged
7) Install ForceWare drivers. ( I recommend the 67.02's off the nzone site..

Should be working ok after that..
