As a techo follower or specifically (amd/intel/nvid/ati follower) - i would speculate that the increased bandwidth PCI-E gives could be used to feed multiple GPU's (Perhaps on a single card). to me it seems obvious but perhaps il be flammed.

i would like to compare amd/envid for a few minutes. for those who want to read further.

as we learn AMD designed the A64 for multiple cpu configs hence the domination for server stuff.

today i read on [H] the interview with nvid person that 6800 was designed with multiple GPU in mind ( we all know about PCI-X GT) so Daa. Then factor ati/nvid are jointly ecouraging 18 months before releasing a totally re-designed GPU(that suits nvid as they have the best tech availible at moment).

now given that it appears that ATI only want to make money by re-using technology while NVID have the balls to move the industry forward (at a large expense and taking slaver from ATI (blahh clock speed blahh core size blaahh cost)), and given that NVID took a slap from the 9800; when designing the 6800 they had more long term goals.

then consider that for AMD the die shrink from 130nm to 90nm = dual core. Does it not seem obvious that a 6800 designed to be multi-processor may also follow the same route and have all the toys ATI dont have.

So i project that if 2x6800 GT (again Daa obvious) beats a 6800U then to keep the margin on the ultra parts nvid will introduce dual GPU 90nm units on a single chip next year.

Sorry if i did not fully explain but my fingers r 2 slow 4 my thoughts. (50 Cent 'style listen a little faster so ??).

ok may be biased but ppl who make the effort and spend the money to move US forward have my RESPECT ! Nvidia !. (maxed D3 = 31fps on ATI and Maxed CS Source on Nvid = 55 (Watch the ATI plummet at big resolution when AA/AF get maxed. Optimizations SIR; yes thats what makes us look good NOW ! ATI ! ).

Just have to say that a single .9 micron chip will be whats coming out next year, and that to will be a low end chip not a flag ship.

ATI might be optimizing the AA and AF better then nV but as WGF is on its way that too will be a non factor in 2 years hopefully with no delays.

Also ATi's cards are made for multi chips too, they were made for multi chips back with the 9700 :p
 
if i am nvid fan why am i running a 9800 pro clocked and VM to 2v. with a mach 2 GT A64 ( ahh yes when dual core AMD is out (as intel's 90nm glows and a dual core prescot can heat the house) the best single cpu chiller there is, is phase change).

If you cant be bothered to think about what i post; and explain to me what mistakes you consider i have made dont bother.

LMAO, I had this long post to go in that other thread and it got locked!! LOL

Ok this doesnt really only apply to Nvidia, b/c I think Intel is going to do something similar one day with everything on a single chip, much less all one mobo, but I think Nvidia has the great video tech to make it a highend gaming all in one system.

I understood what he meant. Anyway, I wanted to post my take on Nvidia's tech and future.

So here's what I was about to post, when it got locked:

Yeah, I think dual core GPU's may be in our future too. Though I dont think we'll see them next year. Maybe 2 years from now.

WHAT I would really be interested in seeing Nvidia desing a fully integrated system start to finish. They have the graphics, northbridge & southbridge (sound & LAN) all they need would be a decent CPU.

It doesnt have to be super fast. Just picture something like a Via Eden mobo.

Everything built on it, integrated memory that ran at like 1Ghz for the CPU would be sweet. Could you imagine the bandwidth. Xbox was close to a full system, but they still used a crappy 733Mhz CPU and "low-end" & only 64MB ram to make it cheap.

So if they made something like a 2Ghz CPU integrated memory controller with integrated ram on the board, so it could run at like 1Ghz (like a videocard)(maybe 512Mb), integrated videocard (with its own ram - 256Mb) nb and sb all on the same PCB. I could see it blowing AMD and Intel out the water. granted the integrated memory would be expensive and not upgradeable, but look at laptops those arent very upgradeable.

I know the cost would be expensive for a total of 768Mb of 1Ghz ram, but high end workstation, gaming machines are expensive, Look at the P4EE and FX-53 obviously there is a highend niche market. And highend of today becomes low end tomorrow. (eventually superintegrated all on one die, no mobo!!! everything cpu, vid, sound, lan, ram, all on one die)

There's my rant on Nvidia and its technology and taking bold steps.
