Not your typical E6850 vs Q6600 Thread

my e6850 is at 3.6ghz on 1.375v now.. seems happy.. 40c load temps (measured with coretemp)! that's pretty cool me thinks.. I haven't tried to push it more yet, but I am thinking if it's cool at load at 3.6 with pretty low volts, it will do 3.8... hopefully so!
 
I've been trolling the forums unable to decide which CPU to get. With Penryn out Jan 5, the E8400 ($180USish) is about the speed of the E6850. So both chips should be very good performers. I'll wait for it.



I don't need quad because I'm hardly playing yesterday's games. Besides, the money I am not putting in the CPU will be put on a moderate gaming card like HD3850 or 8800GT (512mb).
