I am never posting another photo on these message boards.

The following photo was stolen from me by [H] forum royjr

*shrug*

I could probably do that with my A70 lol.

Not to rag on your picture or anything because it is nice but needs more skill! SHOW ME YOUR SKILLZ! :D

i dont know if it was your picture or the fact that it's past my bed time that made me yawn

:p

Nice picture, but GAH! make the text smaller and more subtle, its so big that it takes away from the picture.

Thats kind of the idea

I dont take pictures to put them on the internet. I do however put the pictures that i take on the internet. I've invested a lot of money in my gear and i'd rather people didnt make money off of my stuff without me making money off of it. Not that this picture will, but the fact that i have my name stamped on their helps a tad.

And i think your perfectly able to ignore the ©. If not, no biggy to me.

So what i'm saying is that it would be a waste of my time to even put it on there if you cant notice it.

Meh.

I'd say mine's pretty decent as well.

*gasp!*
Uh-oh. I'd better not let anyone take my pic and claim it as their own!!

I'm sure you guys can barely SEE my name on there, because it's such a FANTASTIC shot I took, huh?

 :p

Who could make money off of a picture at that resolution?

Anyway, nice shot. Good composition and nice exposure.

Most likely no one...which is also the reason i dont post pictures larger then that. Let alone this picture.

Roy your sarcasim is just short of hardly funny.

But, darnit, it felt so good doing it. You make yourself an easy target. :D

Have a Coke & a smile, and take things in-stride, kiddo. :p

LOL, good one. I thought the watermark on the original picture was a little overdone. OP, you need to get a pixel font and put your copyright at the bottom right hand corner of the picture, 6 pt type. None of this overbearing emboss stuff.

i think the picture looks better panoramic anyway:

would have fooled me...8 of the 10 threads you started just on the first page are showing your pics.

lol

Some how I don't like the composition as well as on the first one... Elements seem a bit off of balance.

BTW, roy, liked your moon shot as well. I'll have to look at the EXIFs later because I'd like to see how long of an exposure it was. It really created an interesting effect without making the moon have too much glare to it. Is that pretty much an unedited pic or did you do some level adjustments to it? Anyway, it looks nice.

Well, the exif is edited now, cause I did some changes in NeatImage. Can you believe that I took ALOT of noise outta that pic as it is there? LMAO Looks like ISO3200 on my Canon for Godsakes.....lol

Anywho, it was a 1 sec. exposure with my Nikon Coolpix 4300 in auto mode.

lol. I hear that, my camera freaks out whenever i push the ISO up much... ah well. Neat Image rules, most definitely.

Really that low of an exposure? Somehow it looked like it had the bluring effect of say a 2 or 3 second one.

Hey Mr. Baz... you use neat image to reduce that noise or something else? Anyway, good improvement.

The majority of you on this message board have no etiquette

I post my pictures on the internet to share and get feedback. I dont go spending $2000+ so i can say to strangers on the internet "oo ooo, look at me!"

Anyway, I am impressed with everyones moon shots... I've always had a bit of a hard time with them. The composition on mine just never feels right. The moon always seems to totally out-weigh (or out-shine if you will) the other components of the picture making it feel off a bit. Neither TQ nor Roy's picture seems to suffer from that problem so I'm a bit impressed.

I guess I've only done one or two series of exposures on the moon before so I probably just need more practice in understanding it as an element.

It's actuallly alot differnt then you might expect.

Most peoples instincts, mine included, are to shoot with the widdest appature, with a long exposier, and high ISO.

The truth is small appature, fast shuuter speed and medium to low ISO.

Here is the data from my shot.

I used ISO 1600 but this wasnt a straight shot of the moon, when shooting through clouds it can be a tad differnt.

I have finagled with the settings, and I have the pro vers. :D

Thanks for the exposure data TQ. I think my problem has been too long of exposures.

Just do like.... 1/80 or 1/125 at f8 iso100 if you are aimed at the moon...worked for me

I'll have to try that with my Canon some time. :)

My reasons for my post earlier:

You want it stopped down, at a very low iso, and a fairly fast shutter speed so you won't blow the highlights of the moon. It it very bright and if you had long enough zoom and the ability to spot meter....you could probably just use that. Since I have a 300D and no ability to spot meter, I just shoot RAW and use those speeds that I posted and its usually right on. However, if its too dark or too bright, I can change the exposure compensation in post processing since the highlights wouldn't be blown in the original picture.
