Operating System : Windows 2003 Server

Attempted task :

Trying to configure the damn thing to handle more than one web site on the same IP [in linux, known as virtual hosts]

Have a static IP

Have DNS services at www.everydns.net sending info to our ip address for main domain.

Want to configure ns1.ourdomain.com on this windows 2k3 server box so that it can forward named based requests to different directories.

Win2k3 wants to use different ports on each.

Any win2k guru's out there?

[We are a linux hosting company - Trying 2k3 for some NON linux supported service offerings.]

PM me so we can talk/IM

Could turn into a paying gig as a Win2k3 Admin for us.

Just use Host headers. This site will give you screen prints if you need them. I didn't read the whole site but it looks right from me browsing it. Easier to point you to a site with screen captures than lay it out for you.
IIS6 tutorial

Typically we use virtual directories (http://intranetsite/accounting) internally but we have a few servers that need their own URL via host headers.

Modifying the host headers file is what you want to look for. That IIS screenshot tutorial is very accurate as posted by ktwebb.
