Norton Ghost Problem

Ok, so I bought Norton Systemworks 2004 Pro, for all the extras, but all the main reason is to get Ghost. I'm tired of installing all my programs everytime I format, so I wanted to do a fresh install and make a ghost image of it. So I open up Ghost and run it to save the image on my secondary HDD. When the system reboots it freezes as soon as it enters the PC DOS. Now, I've tried everything that Symantec suggests to do to fix this, from reformation to updating my bios. I can't get it to work, and its frustrating me because I spent a lot of money on this. Also, I can't even call Symantec and ask them for help because they CHARGE $29.99 PER INCIDENT!! WTF kind of technical support is that, you pay this much money for a product that doesn't work and they want you to pay $30.00 just get it working! My system includes:

IC7-MAX3
Gig of Hyper X PC3500
74GB Raptor
80GB WD SATA
Plextor DVD Burner

Can anyone help me, this is really pissing me off. Thanks!

Is the new hard drive that you are going to mirror to accessable in windows. IE can you format it and copy files to it from explorer?

Yes, its my storage dr ive. The Raptor is my C: drive and the 80GB SATA is my D: drive that I use for storeage, I was going to place the ghost image on the D: .

you prob need a driver of sometype for Ghost to see the HD on the SATA controller. (Similar to pressing F6 to install within Windows setup) I'm not sure but I would assume that to be part of your problem.

There are several known and documented problems with SATA and Norton Ghost 7.5 or it's Systemworks equivalent.

I have had this problem at work. But what I was able to do there was to turn of the SATA controller since the drives were all running Parallel ATA.
