I'm wondering if Norton Ghost will allow you to create an image from a single drive to a RAID O set up.

I have 2 WD80 gigs. One is a primary and I have been ghosting that to the other.

I recently purchased a WD160 gig.

My plans are to ghost an 80gig to the 160, set up a RAID 0 on the 80's and then ghost the 160 to the 2 WD80's. As long as Norton see's them as one drive it should work fine but wanted to verify that Norton WILL see them as one drive.

Maybe there is an easier way? :confused:
 
It won't work without some major headaches because the boot controllers are different. We tried this already on here as a test, and it took so long to get it stable it would have been easier to just do a fresh install. But, once you do a fresh install, Ghost your array to an image file on your 160 GB drive.

Well that's not good. I REALLY don't want to lose everything. :(
 
I'm not using RAID0, I wish to use RAID0 and maintain all of my programs,games, settings etc.

Your not using it but your going to.....and you don't want to lose any data? Well then you better store your data on the 160GB, and keep them backed up somewhere else too.
 
I use raid-0 (two 80 GB Maxtor 8MB cach IDE) with a cheap add on RAID card..I do this so I can change my motherboard without reformatting. (usually works)

I've been unsing ghost in DOS for several years, using a bootable CD created in ghost, boot into DOS after I've connected a spare 60 GB IDE drive to a secondary IDE connected to the RAID. (on board IDE port or through RAID IDE ribbons, speed is about the same)

This has worked well for me. It's much faster using an onboard RAID controller - takes about 3 hours (25 GB on the RAID) using the add on card. But for an emergency, it's fantastic!

You'll want to continue to back-up files, data & software as well as email, porn ect.

It was the last version of ghost using DOS...I'm not sure which, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out (google).

By the way, it does not work in windows....just so you'll know.

So you ARE able to GHOST 2 WD80's (Raid 0) onto 1 separate drive using it in DOS and not in Windows, is that what your saying?
