northbridge question

is your northbridge on a nf7-s v2 only going to hold you back from higher fsb?

or say if it was too hot or not getting enough juice could it cause instability even when just multiplier overclocking and leaving the fsb at default?

i just got to wondering about that, since i've heard of people getting higher fsb by cooling the nb better, or upping the voltage...but noone has ever said anything about it holding them back in just core clock alone

Truthfully i dont know but here is my thought process.
1. The NB has nothing to do with the Clock Multiplier or supporting it. If it did, then it would run hotter or cooler based upon the CPU that is in the socket. So i doubt it.
2. The NB is affected by the FSB, it will get hotter as it increases as the NB contains the mmry controller (not in A64 boards).

So, I doubt that changing or cooling the northbridge will have much effect upon multiplier overclocking since the FSB of the system is not changing.

the chipset could care less about what multi the proc is running with, so long as it is sufficiently volted cooled to run at whatever FSB you care to run it at.

SB cooling can become an issue, as well, when you scale up FSB.

i've noticed that on my board...i don't think the little passive sink i put on there is enough...it gets pretty hot
