Northbridge Heatsink Question

I have removed the stock heat sink of my Asus Maximus Formula motherboard.
I'm trying to add a third party northbridge cooler, the Thermalright HR-05-SLI.

The northbridge chip is much larger then the new sink.
Is it ok to strap it on as is? I've never done this before and don't want to fry the chip.

That's fine, the center raised part of the "chip" is all that needs to be covered.

In the picture the raised chip isn't 100% covered.
