Northbridge Cooler Installation

Has anyone installed a new Northbridge cooler on a Northbridge without a shim?

I have a Gigabyte 8knxp 875p board and the Northbridge doesn't have a shim on it so the heatsink seems to want to rock back and forth a little when i push on it.

I have a Zalman NB47J and its a passive heatsink with a push pin installation. The Northbridge core is bare just like an Athlon XP.

Will it cool properly as it is? The heatsink is rather warm to the touch so i'm guessing its transfering heat alright.

Suggestions?

the rocking is actually wierd but the springs will keep it nice and tight against the north bridge.. if your worried thats what thermal adhesives are for...

So its ok if the Northbridge cooler will rock back and forth as long as it stays on the NB core?

I have AS5 applied under it. Should i use something else?

my thermalright slk-800 rocks on my athlon-xp im not worried... the rocking doesnt happen unless you jerk the case so why worry the spring or clip re centers it afterwards

Anyone else have any input on this?

I'd like to find someone that has actually replaced the NB cooler on an 8knxp or a similar board.

i got a idea, if your worried about it go to home depot buy some bolts that are non conductive and bolt it on... as tight as you feel the need to.. its not moving after that.. i did that to my geforce... today i got zm80d-hp tho :D
