I think my favorite Intellimouse 3.0A has finally decided to retire, after a solid run. I loved the little guy and wish it would have made it longer, but it has having some really strange issues, with response and clicking. It has become a very annoying problem and can not stand it any longer. I have tried reinstalling the device and even reformating windows, tried a standard mouse with scroll in the Ps/2 port and it works fine.

So here we go, I loved the way it feels and the placement of the buttons, so what do you think the best mouse for me would be. I saw the 4.0a version but I do not like the firmness of the wheel. I like the wheels that have a click to them rather than that smoothness. I also loved the forward and back buttons, and it must be wired. I see the MX510, and I thought it feeled ok, but is there something even more similar to the 3.0A?

Ah hell, I am getting the run around on Microsoft's site and you have to call long distance for the "free" support. Plus I dont have my proof of purchase anymore :(

I think the warranty on those things are 5 years. I don't know if the proof of purchase matters, I think MS asks that you send them the mouse back and they get a new one out to you. Haven't done it myself, only heard of people who have dealt with MS about this.

Could always just buy a new Intellimouse 3.0 I guess. If you can't find one, the Intellimouse 4.0 is pretty good.

I don't really see a place to contact with them without paying long distance on the telephone. I try to do the e-mail support and I get stuck on the select your product page as it only has Microsoft Software listed

Nah, that's not the one we're talking about (I think).

Intellimouse Optical 3.0.

Does anyone know if MS will replace an Intelemouse Explorer (orriginal) that has a cable witha loose connection in it?

I've got one and I replaced it with a trackball explorer. I fixed it for now by pushing the cable up inside the mouse but i'm sure that won't hold out forever ( I carry it around in my laptop bag). Heck, the warrantee is probably void as soon as you crack it open though. LOL!

Yea the version I am talking about is the Intellimouse Optical Version 3.0a, it has 5 buttons and only came in black and silver.

Well decided to move on to the MX510, and I am pretty happy so far, I like the quick switch button and I use the two scroll buttons for min and max. My mouse feet on my 3.0A were worn down so this new mouse seems to glide. Ah well, I hope I enjoy this one as much as I did my 3.0a, but I think nothing will ever match it in comfort
