At the moment, I have two routers, and I want to make them work together so that the computers on my second router/switch can share the internet as well. I've been reading something about the uplink port, but people were talking about cross-overs and what not.. and just confused me to death.

First, i would like to know how to setup the two routers/switches so that they can work together.

R/S = Router/Switch

Internet -----> R/S1 ------> R/S2

Now, do i take the uplink port from R/S2 and connect it to the uplink of R/S1?
Or do i take the uplink port of R/S2 and just connect it to normal LAN port on R/S1?
Or do I take the WAN port of R/S2 and connect it to the Uplink port of RS/2?

Second question...sort of... Is it okay if i just have patch cables and not cross-overs?

leave the internet set up how it is. run a patch cable from the uplink port of one of the routers to any port on the other one. Before you connect them, make sure to disable DHCP on the router not connected to the internet.

Use a patch cable to connect from uplink port on R/S2 to normal lan on R/S1. Then as M11 said, disable DCHP on R/S2.
