I am assembling a CPU and H100 cooler on a Asus P9X79 motherboard. The H100 has a bracket that goes on the back, and standoff screws that go through the motherboard and into the bracket. However, the screw location does not have holes that allow me to run the screws through them. Am I supposed to knock out the holes? It looks like this could be done, as there are small indented circles in the mobo material, but none of the instructions mention this, either for the H100 or the P9X79 that I can see.

If I do have to knock them out, what's a safe way to do that? Thanks for your assistance.
 
i dont think you need that piece with the LGA 2011, just the standoffs.

Yea, that works. There are two sets of standoffs, one specifically for LGA 2011. The first instruction panel shows the bracket is for "Intel" but it doesn't say not to use it for the 2011 socket. If I use the LGA 2011 standoffs, there's no need for the back bracket as they fit snugly into the CPU bracket.
 
Success! My barebones bench test boots into the bios successfully, and over at least 10 minutes the CPU temps don't rise above 33C.
 
33C in the BIOS at idle with an H100? What's the ambient temps like?
