Noise when using optical out..?

Hi all,

I am using optical out from my Samsung Plasma TV to a Creative DDTS decoder. My Klipsch Promedia Ultras are connected to the to the DDTS via minijack.

The problem is that I get a significant amount of "noise" when the DDTS is used.

Does anybody have any idea why this is and how to fix this? I am not using the original power adapter but the specs are compatible.

Any advice is appreciated.
