Node 304 / Nova cross compability (PSU / H2O-AIO)

Hi all,

I have begun researching parts for a SFF build within the next few months.

Now I hope to transition the system to the Kimera Industries Nova once it's available, but until then I plan to build in the Fractal Design Node 304.

This obviously limits me to mini-ITX motherboards and I'm targeting the Asus Impact VII and I a full size GPU (probably a GTX 970).

The Questions are:

I want to cool the CPU with a 120mm push-pull AIO configuration (Corsair H80i GT) as I cannot fit a 240mm solution in the Node. Will this also fit the Nova? I'm pretty sure it will if I loose one of the fans (thick rad).

What to do with the PSU? I would very much like to go modular, but I cannot for the life of me find a modular PSU thats 140mm in length and will allow me to put a full size GPU in the Node, I believe the same issue is present in the Nova. What PSU's are people putting in their Node 304s?

Thanks for any input in advance, especially related to the PSU question as that is what's nagging me the most.

The Seasonic G series are popular with the 304(had one in mine but moved on to smaller cases), even though its 160mm long the modular connectors are low and come out under the GPU. Fractal now carries an OEM version of this PSU. Check out the OCN Node 304 owners club, tons of info.

Out of curiousity, if you're doing an ITX build why Nova and not the M1?

H80i GT should fit in Nova just fine but you'll probably have to ditch the second fan.

Nova does NOT support ATX PSUs, so you may consider the SX500-LG or one of the other SFX-L units, 130mm depth and fully modular.

With regards to the NOVA vs M1 I really like the effort being made with the Nova with regards to pushing a potential SLI system into less than 20L. While I think the M1 is a fantastic piece of work, I'll rather have the Nova.
Also I Prefer mATX over Mini-ITX but I'm having huge difficulties finding compact and aesthetically pleasing mATX cases to tie me over, that seems a little bit easier with the Mini-ITX form.

Ideally I'd build my own case, but I have not the skills and resources to do it...

Good call on the PSU issue, I'm very much interested in the SFX-L form as it seems that a lot of the issues with noise and the SFX PSU's will be solved while keeping a small footprint on the PSU.
