i was uninstalling a game last nite and i restarted and all of a sudden no sound was coming from my speakers. the volume control is not in the task bar and when i go to open it it says "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click Add Hardware" i did this and it says that theres no new hardware to be installed and the audio devices are already there. It even says that everything is working properly in properties. i have no idea what happened.

i tried that but everytime i tried to reinstall it says "device not found".:-/
 
What soundcard is it.... did you do anything else besides just uninstall the game?

If your up to it, just for ha-ha's, shut down the computer, change the PCI slot the sound card is in, and restart your computer.......

Is the onboard sound of your motherboard (if it has this) disabled in the BIOS?

Oh, and goto your control panel, click sounds and audio devices, click the "Audio" tad, and tell us what it says in the "Default device:"
