no sound!!!!

i have the nf7(not nf7-s) and theres headphone and sound jacks in the back and when i plug in ma headphonmes no sound comes out, iv tried with many idfferent headphones and they still dont work. Do i need a sound card? o and i cant accessthe headphone jack on my cd drive to to drive covers
 
Did you install the driver for onboard sound? Right click 'My Computers', go to the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager. Check to see if there are any yellow ? icons. If so, you didn't install the driver.
