Just installed a fresh Vista Ultimate, and ran into a problem I've never seen before.

Vista Ultimate as far as I know has DVD codecs built in. However there was no sound coming from DVDs in WMP or WMC.

Steps I took to fix it:
I installed ffdshow-tryout (I was gonna have to anyway for other vids), but nothing changed.
I installed AC3Filter (ffdshow has one but installed this just in case), nothing changed.
I gspotted the VOB files, they use AC3 for sound.

Anyone have any ideas?

It goes through ffdshow's AC3 unless I disable it, then it goes through AC3filter. I can tell by using Gspot

Oh yeah, thats a possibility. I'm using digital-out (HDMI) for the first time with this new machine so I'm new to this. What should I be checking?

Just so you know, sound is working for everything else including system sounds, DivX, etc. Its just DVD that its not working with. I can't say for sure that an AVI with AC3 works, but I'll check for sure once I get home.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, VLC works so I know the problem has to do with codecs.

Problem was tracked to the HDMI port, I went back to using VGA+regular audio... gotta wait until Abit comes out with new HDMI drivers. This is an Abit AN-M2HD board.
