I built a new 1.6ghz machine.

The problem i have is when i've set it all up i get no picture on the monitor.

To fix this problem i have:

tried 2 mobos,
tried different memory,
tried 2 psu's and cases,
tried 3 graphics cards,
tried 2 different CPU's.

With trying two cpus in 2 computers i have seen that the cpu is faulty (it did not work in an existing working machine), however the working cpu does not get me any picture on the screen.

My only thoughts are that the cpu was fualty and has damaged the cpu socket on the mobo (is this possible?), or maybe the cpu was broke and the agp slot too?

Does anyone have any solutions?

I actually have the same problem, except my computer's about a year old and was working just fine up until last night at about 2 AM. I tried turning on the computer and the moniter didn't register that a signal was coming in and remained black. All I've done is try different connections on the graphics card (I normally use DVI, but VGA didn't work either) and a new harddrive, which doesn't really effect booting anyway. I'm as stumped as you are

Hehe sorry :) Yeah the monitor works, i've tried 2, and tried both with a working system and the monitor is fine :)

What video card are you using? If required make sure you're hooking up the external power connection on it.

sorry for the stupid post cheese plant :p haha also you may be experiencing incompatabilities between the video boards and the motherboards... I know it's unlikely but my old GF2GTS would simply not work with any asus boards.... just a possibility.... it seems a little weird tho since each time you have had different parts.... try setting it up caseless to ensure you're not shorting anything...

I don't have a PCI to try. I have resetted the cmos. Graphic cards used are GF2 (sumit mx), GF4 440mx, and GF4 Ti4200.

If none of them are working something is wrong with your board, gotta be. (unless they're all bad)

Check for jumpers you may need to address (like ram) , with all that differant hardware either you live in static electricity heaven or you might be missing something.

Its possible youve been using a piece of hardware that happens to be shorting the board out, a video card might be a culprit.

Or your motherboard might need a new bios. Double check connections, check to make sure there is nothing in the agp slot, that you've installed it right.
Make sure you remove the board from the case while working on it to remove the possibility of a short. then just use ram, mobo, cpu and vid card.

Sometimes motherboards go bad in batchs, its possible.
