After going to the Eyefinity event, and good feedback from some AMD contacts, I decided to give AMD a whirl. Picked up a 6870 Sapphire. I have 4 monitors, and was told that it should be no issue driving 4 monitors from one card. Soo. going to try using all outputs. Unfortunately I cant seem to get HDMI output working using a HDMI->DVI cable. Is this possible? The monitor is not even showing up..

Ok, looks like one of my HDMI ports is bad on my 22" monitors. Swapped it, and got video. But I have to dump one desktop to view the other (can only have 2 extended desktops w/ one card?) Not to mention the cable I purchased kind of sucks, but regardless, any ideas why I can only have two desktops when 3 displays are connected to one card?
 
You can't use both dvi ports and the hdmi port at the same time. Only two of the three are functional at the same time. You will need to hook up something to the display port output to get three displays running at the same time.

In summary
DVI-a + DVI-b + DP = :)
DVI-a + HDMI + DP = :)
DVI-b + HDMI + DP = :)
DVI-a + DVI-b + HDMI = :(
 
Appreciate the breakdown, Is there anything that can output all 4 at the same time? I really don't want to get another video card. I think I am going to scrap this whole project of running the cables 50' and just move my desktop. Way too expensive for sub-par results. I guess the good thing is if I return all the cables, I can buy another video card :/
 
If you have 2 display ports on there, you can use those + 2 of the other 3 (DVI, DVI, HDMI)

If you use DP adapters, you will need active ones also.
 
Do I have to use some Active Display port adapter to take it from DP -> DVI? I am just frustrated now with my whole situation. Having to do RMAs on multiple items. Not to mention PALIT is not responding to my initial warantee issue. Bad week.. Going to go crawl in a hole and hide.

Yes, you will need an active display port adapter.

There are "eyefinity 6" cards out there that have 6 display ports on them, but that isn't ideal for you since you're going to have to convert them all.

There are also "FLEX" cards made by Sapphire that basically incorporate an active display port adapter onto the card's PCB. "The SAPPHIRE HD 6770 FleX can also support up to four simultaneous, independent monitors if you choose to include the use of a DisplayPort monitor or active adapter."

What is strange, is that my 460GTX is not doing any artifacts at all on my 30" monitor while the 6000 does. Decisions decisions..
