So I have had this situation for a while with my nVidia card and thought it might be toast, so I purchased a ATi 9600 Pro and installed it. All is fine until I reboot the box, and sure enough, it is doing the same thing the nVidia was doing. Doesn't recognize the drivers and is running on the VGA, yuck. Ran Driver Cleaner to get rid of everything and start fresh.
Everything works when I initially install until I reboot. So I was looking on MS website, and notices a article about determining which video driver you are using.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314854
When I install, then look at the Registry, a device0 exist like the article states, but after reboot, it is gone. So, why is the registry changing and how do I keep it pointed to the ATI card?????
Any help would be great....
Thanks...
