I have acquired one of these (body only) and with no battery. can anyone give me an estimated price for it? The shutter also sticks sometimes,

You can usually find a body only with a box, charger, and spare batteries for ~$500 on CL and Nikon forums. So a "broken" d300 body only? You might find someone to pay you $200-300 but even that is questionable.

if the shutter sticking qualifies it as broken, what does that mean? sorry, no idea on the subject. thats why i asked the grateful people here

Well, anything that doesn't work as intended would be considered broken, wouldn't it? True, it also depends on severity of the issue, but most people wouldn't want to put up with a shutter like that. You might want to contact aps (or other Nikon repair service) for an estimate on the damage. Once repaired, it will be easier for you to sell the camera for about $450.

how do you know the shutter sticks if you don't have a battery?

you sure the shutter speed isn't set very slow or long exposure NR is turned on?

also rule #16 of the rules... pretty sure price checks aren't allowed, unless that only applies to the FS/FT subforum.
