Many, many moons ago, I found this site. I was searching for some info on case modding and the Hardforum seemed to be THE place to ask questions and get inspiration. This was back when CaseEtc was ran out of a highschool kid's basement and dremel skilz meant you could cut a perfect blow hole. Anyway, I modded up my first Antec case. I put a nice black paint job on it, I added a window, I cut in a blow hole, and I stealthed my drives.

Not a bad first effort I thought. That was about four years ago. The case is now scratched, dented, dinged, and scrapped. The actual frame of the case is being used to hold my server:

The rest of the parts are sitting in various bins in my basement:

What I am going to attempt is an old-school mod. Yep, I am just going to do some good painting, maybe redesign the window/blow hole, and fix something up for the cpu heatsink (see note below). I've been wanting to do this for sometime and I have thought long and hard about the colors I'd like to use. This time, instead of just painting the case and leaving the dumb grey metal on the inside, I am going to paint the inside too. Perhaps I will finally get around to adding a CC tube , and adding some other misc touches that the first case lacked.

NOTE: If you noticed from the above pic of the server, my cpu heatsink is the bottom half of an old dragon orb with a much quieter 80mm fan hanging on it. This setup seems to work really well and I'd like to incorporate it into the case design ie I don't want to spend more money than I have to.

Anyway, this is my "Mod-a-log" and I thank you for reading.

Not to get anyone excited, but these are some more images and history on this case:

This was my first attempt at a window and blow hole. The problem I have with the new design is I really have no use for a blow hole. In the old days, they were all the rage, now they're just annoying. Its just another place to collect dust.

The molding just didn't work out either.

This is what happens when you leave a cheap cd case on your computer for a summer.

This is some kind of splatter mark that occured during one of my clear coats. I never figured out how it happened. It was the first noticable mistake.

If you're ever curious how much dust you have in your case, taking a picture of it seems to really make it stand out.

Stay tuned for sanding...

Well Easter did not go as planned, and I was unable to cut out my window as planned. I may, perhaps, start sanding the other pieces smooth and start painting the case frame.

EDIT: If the pics die its because the server is shut down to remove the mobo and misc parts.
