next intel price cuts?

I am just guessing here, but I would say sometime after the new CPUs come out.

Also, it is possible that those older ones won't have a price cut. The new line of CPUs may cause the older 1066 FSB CPUs to be end of life.

I think their going to have have some stockpiles to get rid of first, being intel they will prob get the price they want however.
 
Phenom is coming out soon as well, and depending on how competitive AMD is with the pricing (anyone have some numbers?) we might see some interim price cuts on the current Core2's till mainstream penryn processors come out
 
How much cheaper can they get?? Really? Its time for Motherboards to come down to acceptable levels

Yeah, keep dreaming. As long as people pay those prices (and they would pay more if they had to) to get a bitchin motherboard, asus, dfi and others will keep producing them.

I for one want to see a skulltrail mobo made by DFI.

i think the top name motherboard manfuactuers started a cartel and havn't been caught yet.

remember how ram become stupidly expensive? I think samsung got caught a few years back and was fined 300million.
 
someone needs to go against the cartel. a Scarface of motherboards, so to speak, but not so rough around the edges

Actually, RAM got stupidly expensive because one of the biggest chip manufacturing plants in Asia got destroyed from a earthquake or something to that effect.IIRC
Supply went down, prices went up.
 
I remember reading somewhere - DT, I think - that Intel doesn't plan to drop the lowest price point on Quad-Core CPUs.

The latest roadmaps I've seen show two $266 Quads: the Q6600 and the Q9450 (don't really know if this is the right one, it's the 2.5GHz/6MB cache Penryn-based). So, at least for now, there won't be "dirt-cheap" quads. Though they ARE very cheap already... hehe

This, of course, may well change, especially if Phenom hits the market with hard prices. You see, Intel has NO competition on the desktop quad-core market yet, so there is really no reason for them to drop their prices... Thankfully, Phenom is right around the corner (I've been hearing this one for six months now... :rolleyes:), and then competition will be hard again. Hopefully we'll be seing something like what happened with the C2D vs. X2 price wars... hehehe

Good news on other front, though: It seems single core Intel CPUs will be no more starting somewhere early next year, with Celeron E1xxx CPUs (Intel said there would be a E1000 serires, so there it is... hehehe) hitting the market to fill the $35~$64 price points. That will be SOOOO sweet! :p
