does anyone have any idea what the next gen offerings from ATI & Nvidia are going to be like? performance? features? trying to decide if i should wait.

doesnt really matter...whatever you buy is going to old and outdated a year and a half from when it comes out..

However I think a year and a half is pushing it...more like six months it will be old and outdated. Dont get me wrong it will still be good...but "technically speaking" it will be outdated.
