Someone please tell me they're going to have PCI express and AGP versions. I don't want to feel that I upgraded for no reason.

In addition ATI PCI express will be naitive with no conversion chip

I inferred from the article that nvidia might be using conversion ?

ATi will have nvidia on the ropes soon if they dont get thier act together

No they got a choker chain around Nvidia's balls with the new lowered price of 9800Pros. And i went to compussr at around noon to look at some new printers... and i asked em'. You got any of them 9800pros around? They sold out within 1:15 minutes they sais.

Now 9800pro> 5900U for much less money that before.

never thought of a choker chain around someones balls before that would hurt some chicks might like that though

the first pci-e cards nvidia will have will be bridged solutions on slower cards (so the bridge has no real effect because the card doesn't overload it) they will follow with native solutions a little later including a pci-e flagship chipset (nv45) and its derivitives.

ROFLL!...LMFAO!:p :D

sigh, back on topic... yeah I think they both have plans to release their newer cards on AGP as well as PCI-e.... ATi and Nvidia both have their roadmaps up on anandtech

No, guys, both companies do NOT have their roadmaps up on Anandtech. What Anand posted were just rumors, which was very unprofessional of him to do. If those were official specifications that would require he violate his NDA (what? you see those specs anywhere else online?) and that would mean he'd currently be getting his butt sued off because both companies are keeping their cards (no pun intended) very close to their vests for this generation.

So stop citing those specs because they're not official (and not entirely accurate).

^good thing they are doing it too, overhyping is a major part of what made the nv30 such a dissapointment.

"Him"? who the fuck is "Him"? they are posted BY these companies. At the very least the ATi ones are. It's info. gathered from press releases and interviews. Furthermore they ARE both there, you nut and I will "cite" (cough link cough) to them all I frickin' want because it's everyone's right to see them.

Edit: furthermore, anandtech is not quite the same seedy establishment that is the inquirer - a place where we see a lot more garbage erect from on these forums.

^ ^ could not have put it ebtter myself.....

btw, I believe that a NDA means that companies can not realease benchmarks or any other performance numbers until it is lifted, they can talk all about the hardware from what I understand - this is what happened with prescott so I am assuming it is the same. Furthermore I refuse to believe that any reference cards of any next-gen chipsets have been released to the review sites...

Wrong. 100% wrong. But I'm not going to waste my time trying to dissuade you.

NDA's are so that reviewers and press can release the information on the SAME date, so as to be fair to everyone basically.

No information is released to the public until the NDA is lifted, period.

However, press, and some review sites are privy to the information as well as we receive the hardware and information needed to write up our articles and then have them ready for when the NDA lifts. But we are not allowed to say anything at all until that NDA date lifts. And usually, but not always, the NDA lifting day is also under NDA.

Well, if we get Brent drunk and offer him 3 hookers, he’ll probably forget what an NDA is. :)

What the heck is nVidia doing with this launch of their 'PCX' cards? I mean, how early are they going to start announcing products?
End-user products based on the new GPUs are expected to come to market in the second half of the year.
So how can they say that these are
the industry’s first top-to-bottom family of PCI Express GPUs.
And They're not even really PCI-e cards, just bridged.

And "PCX" wtf nVidia how confused are you trying to make people. Most hardware enthusiasts had a hard time making the distinction between PCI-X and PCI-e, so now we have PCI-X, PCX, PCI-e, hmm any more you want to throw in?

OMG I just read the posts after my comments on ATI regarding Nvidia.

Suffice to say you guys did not let me down. Great thread i am laughing my balls (currently unchokechained) off
