newegg orders

Just placed an order for a half a terabyte and a fan controller. I originally clicked through the banner, but navigated to what I needed and I don't know if that registers to the [H]. At the end of processing my order, it asks where I heard about them so I put down the [H]. Just wanted to verify that this gives props to my favorite hangout for continued ad revenue here...and is there a preference at the end if I put the OCP or the Forum page (it asks both, I put the OCP...just wondering for next month's newegg purchase ;) )

Newegg judges the worth of thier advertising dollar by the click throughs, not by the actual purchase, but anytime you get a chance to plug the [H] at Newegg, take it. They sponsor the forums and that helps us keep it going

I was also wondering the same thing, if the [H] gets something in return for us clicking through. I know I have found myself clicking through the banner many times instead of just going directly to the site. Thanks for letting us know MajorDomo.

Well, yes and no. We absolutely get value from YOU guys clicking through our ads and buying things. We do NOT get cash directly from it. I don't like the idea of a hardware review site making money directly from hardware sales. It seems to be a bit of a conflict of interest to me. Anyway, we do charge Newegg for their advertising, and when they can PROVE it is working for them, well that makes them happy and then they want to buy more advertising which obviously allows us to stay around and offer free content. :)

As Kyle said, we do not get any monetary value from the click throughs, it just shows The Egg that we are a viable site for their advertising by the number of clicks (traffic volume) that our members and guests generate. :)

I've actually gotten around 2 grand worth of stuff in the last month thru newegg and have put [H] at the bottom ..

Just my 2 cents

Newest stuff of the top of my head

3200 winchester
a few raptor hdds
Asus A8V mobo
2 gig Corsair tiwn-x

the list goes on and on

ok, I was just wondering how it works. I know if I click the banner at the top Hardocp is in the URL, but if I navigate to get something else other then the promo then it disappears. Just wanted to verify it "still counts". I guess that means that while you get credit for click throughs there is no actual tracking of how many of them generate revenue for the egg? I suppose that's why they have the "where did you hear about us" question at the end...

There you go. Click that, and they'll see the value in advertising for the [H]. :D
