Come on, what's a $100 price difference when you're buying hardware that just came out?

I bought a 6800GT AGP for $400 when they were released. Now they can be had for $150. The price "should be" whatever people will pay for it.

The point about Monarch is that they sell items they don't have in stock and that's why you have to wait. So it is a big deal. Newegg doesn't sell what they don't have in stock. Get a clue.

Because the fact is, other sites show significantly lower prices already, including sites such as Buy.com. Sure, they may not have them in stock currently, but neither does Newegg.

Hell, even Fry's Electronics has the E6600's price as being $380-400 in their system, and usually Fry's always has considerably higher prices at launch for new computer products.

And apparently you've never pre-ordered an item before, such as a gaming console, at your local game store. I have. Infact, I fully pay for my systems in advance, and on the day of launch, I go and pick it up. Right now, I can easily afford to pay for a processor now, and once it's in stock within a week or two, have it shipped to me. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Newegg's policy is geared more towards the "first come, first serve" basis, as in, those who are willing to constantly keep checking for availibility and buying it when it first is put back up for sale. I don't care to do that.

And here's the thing: within a week or two, Newegg's price will probably be $50 less. Wait a month, and it'll be probably almost $100 less. If a person *has* to have that item, and is willing to pay $100 more for it to have it as soon as possible, more power to them. The reality is, they'll end up using that product for maybe 3-4 weeks before I will, and I'll have saved $100 that I could then have used for improving another item while still getting that "great Newegg customer service". Afterall, I have a system right now that performs just fine for everything I need it to, so there's no rush. :)

Newegg is in the buisness to MAKE MONEY, not to give everyone sweet deals on hardware. I dont see how this thread manages to drag itself on for 3 pages arguing about the morality of making a big profit on a hot item. <Cough> Gasoline, Opec </cough>

Stupid to sell something for far higher than MSRP? Nope. Im sure any of you with half a brain would be doing the same thing, if newegg gets 20-30 suckers ready to pay $100+ over the retail, good for them.

My question is, in light of NewEgg's "awesome" customer service.... How many of you 'Egg supporters paid the extra $100 or so to get your Conroe from NewEgg?

My point exactly.

edit: Don't get me wrong, I like Newegg. I've never had a problem ordering from them, etc. But there are way too many OTHER retailers I've had good experiences with, who are selling these things for MUCH more reasonable prices.

But everyone else is selling them above MSRP. They aren't any better than Newegg. You might think you're getting a better deal somewhere else, but you're still paying more than the CPU is worth. Of course you want the best deal on one, but don't blame Newegg for making a nice size profit from people that will pay a premium. If someone is that stupid to get taken advantage of then they deserve it. But then maybe they are rich and don't really care about a $100 difference in price. Let them make Newegg happy.

gotta love americans, they have to have everything first. stop bitching, its basic economics. this is what you get for being all " i have to have a conroe, its so great!!!!111"

i dont see what the fuss is about. sure, its a good cpu. do people really need to scrap entire systems just to have something new? waste of money imo. i sold my desktop, but only because i didnt need it and i have a laptop.

It's a personal choice, why should you care? If you think it's a waste of money, good for you. Now go sit in the corner and hug your little laptop.

I think all the prices they gave out were price per 1000 not MSRP.

I've don't believe folks think Newegg shouldn't make money, that's stupid! Most folks DO expect Newegg or anyone to make reasonable markups, not $100 to $125 more than other VERY GOOD sites. Newegg is NOT the only damned site that provides good service.

Many times, shipping and a 15% RMA fee is already added to the price so of course they are happy to take it back and seemingly not charge anything LOL! When only few returns are made BAM, they make a killing again and good for them:) If a product has a high return rate [cough]7900GT[/cough] Newegg is a very good place to shop.

Yup, suckers keep prices high. Newegg is my number one place to buy online. But only FOOLS shop exclusively at one place. We all pay lower prices when we shop smarter.

Note NOT posted to any one person here but folks telling others to NOT say anything is LAME! Newegg did cut their prices because folks spoke up and out!
