[Newbie] Types of media CDs to buy for DVD drive?

Hi:

I am confused on what types of blank media are acceptable for certain DVD+RW burners. Take the following for example:

Would I be able to buy DVD-R discs, DVD-RW discs, DVD+R discs, or DVD+RW discs, or all 4 if I wanted to? am I limited to as what type I need to get?

On that 710A, you can burn all recordable DVDs, except DVD-RAM.

The 720a has dual-layer burn speed of 4x versus the 710's speed of 2.4x.

However, the price of dual-layer media isnt attractive ($10 per disk?) Otherwise they appear to be the same.

BYX2 firmware for the 710A adds 4X +R DL speeds. Also, the 720A has 8X +RW and 6X -RW speeds, as compared to the 4X +RW/-RW speeds on the 710A.. but seriously, both these drives are quite shitty compared to teh Benq 1620 and LG4163B.
