New Windows SMP client

How to best stop the smp client and replace the FAH.exe?

Mine is running as a service and how should I terminate it so that it doesn't lose points or its place. And then I'll just replace the fah.exe but to stop it?

when does the old windows SMP expire?

Thanks, I'll update my machines today with the new exe. It's very simple to stop the client, replace the exe then restart it.

Jon, just stop the service in service manager, replace the file and reboot. You shouldn't lose any work.

I recommend copying the work folder to a safe place before shutting down SMP. That way if your work unit is trashed, you have a backup copy that you can use to try again. Its decision to trash a work unit is arbitrary.

MY WU GOT TAZED...

Hear that BLUEFISH44? I'm now mad... :D

In case anyone hasnt ran in to problems yet........both my smp clients died the other day. Had to update fah.exe and REBOOT pc before it would work on a new wu. Until the reboot, it would just kill 5 wu's in a row and go in sleep mode. Hope that helps anyone experiencing problems

Guys, definitely backup before proceeding with the new client as aldamon recommended. Last time Stanford updated the client I lost my work.
