New Viewsonic VP930b backlight issue

I just received a new VP930b today and it has a very noticeable problem with backlight bleeding through from the corners whenever there is a black screen up, and it does show a bit through a couple of other colors. It is widest at the corners and tapers down towards the center almost completing an X accross the screen.

I remember reading somewhere a while back about a way to fix this, something to the effect of using it till it is good and warm and then placing it face down to cool off. Will this actually work?

I am contemplating sending it back, but a refund would cost me around 100 bucks out of the 420 I spent on it, with the 15% restock fee and the cost of shipping with insurance to Cali.
 
You have to get the 1 year service NET replacement plan next time for 50 dollars. 100 dollars sounds high how much for shipping?
 
After I posted this l called Newegg last evening and they were more than willing to take it back with a full refund, and would credit me with 25.00 for shipping.

I heated up the monitor playing some FPS games last night and turned it off and placed it face down on a towel on my desk, and when I got back from work this morning I sat it upright and turned it on, so far so good, it appears to have significantly reduced / eliminated the bleedthrough. I can't be 100% certain because there is a lot of sunlight in my den at this time of day which produces a fair bit of glare on the monitor. So if this did actually solve my problem then I will probably keep it as long as it doesn't reappear within the 30 days I have to return it. :)

EDIT: I just heated it up using rthdribl and threw a blanket over it to eliminate any reflective light, no good. The bleed through is still there. So now it goes back. Don't know whether I want to try another or not, I really like the way this monitor performs but don't know if I want to take a chance on another.
 
I guess that's just the luck but c'mon try again.
Also the same panel but not as good contrast.
Maybe you might be able to get them to check real quick since this panel doesn't do this.

I guess I am getting the vp930b now for a new $408 price tag but I wonder if it would be cheaper with their membership although I still have to look into that. I can only find this locally at CDW for $500.
 
I just got one from zipzoomfly for a few days and there is no problem with backlight or dead pixel. Things happen so why not give it another chance ?

Well it is up to Newegg. I am not particuluarly happy with them since they switched over to UPS as their carrier of choice, my local UPS depot has a bunch of screw ups working for them that have lost/stolen and misplaced some of my packages on the wrong doorsteps even though I have never authorized them to leave them without my sign. I have never had a problem with Fed Ex so they are my preference, now I must pay considerably more for their service from NE.

Since I do like the performance of this monitor then if they will ship me a replacement then I will stick with it, but if they insist on me sending this back first then I will be getting a refund and this will be my last purchase from them.

The 191b you mentioned is out of stock, and the VX924 is a fast panel but at a sacrifice, (colors) so I had eliminated that from my list of choices while I was researching for this purchase. I had been waiting for the Samsung 214T but no one had them in stock and I grew impatient so that is why I ordered this. I am sure it is a fantastic unit but I just got a bad one. My next choice for a 19" would be an NEC 1970GX or a Planar PX1910M, a little more money but as evidenced with this unit you get what you pay for.

One thing I do dislike about this 930b is that annoying blue square in the center of the panel that tells you that you are hooked up to DVI whenever going into a game or upon the changing of resolutions of return from the screen saver. It is centered and gets in the way.
 
There is no option to RMA or refund this online with NE so I called them, they are now referring me to Viewsonic for problem verification. I am stuck in a time warp on their neverending phone options menu...Ughh I can see this is going to be a major PITA.

EDIT: turned out to not be so bad after all. I have contacted V S and they issued a case number, another 5 minute call to Newegg and I now have the RMA to my e mail. :)
