Bear with me, this is my first case mod in some time.
I've yet to choose a name for this machine, but it's going to server as a web development server for myself, and a LAN Game server for Pittco. I may also use it to share files over my home network.
Going into it, I've got an AMD64 CPU, 1GB RAM, Radeon X600, 36GB SATA Raptor, 100GB SATA for storage. Possibly some SATA2 storage in the future, since have an unused Promise RAID controller. Gentoo Linux will be powering everything.
I've started off with an Ultra Wizard case.
Thus far, I've painted the sides and top a matte yellow with a transparent gloss (that screwed the paint up since I didn't let it dry long enough). I also added case handles to the top for easy carrying.
At this point, I'm going to give the paint a good day or two to dry completely, then sand it and add another coat of yellow, rinse and repeat, until I feel right about adding the gloss again.
I'm not sure where I'm going from there. The server is going into active duty August 4th and 5th for Pittco's LAN. I could add a window, but may opt for some sort of painting on the side? The yellow matches Buffalo Wild Wings' yellow perfectly, and since I work for them, it might be interesting to stencil the logo onto the side of the case before adding the gloss.
And what about the front? Should I leave it black? I'd like to add some "modder's mesh" or something to replace to plastic grill for the bottom vent.
I'm open to suggestions, so please leave some.
