Hi all. I'm building my first new box in five years, and wanted to join the [H]ardOCP forums along the way.

I work at a Micro Center, and managed to get my hands on an i7-920 with Vista and 7 Ultimate for $129. This was to be the basis of the build, and the chip was purchased in July. I recently received permission from the wife to spend half of the total build cost as a birthday present, and purchased a Corsair 800D, Antec TruePower Quattro 850W PSU, and Asus P6T mainboard.

I plan to add an OCZ Obsidian 6GB DDR3-1600 kit, along with a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD, and an OEM Samsung Litemaster DVD drive, a Corsair H50 water cooling kit, and finally, an EVGA nVidia 275 GTX.

I can't wait to get this system built, as it's replacing a P4 based rig. I barely managed to get Crysis to run on the old box, and will be glad when I can purchase games with no worries about being able to run them. I have a list of games that I want to install right off, ones I've been unable to play on the old system.

Anyway, glad to be here, and I welcome any comments on my parts selection.

You may want to change your memory. The reviews on the Obsidian are not very favorable.

How about the Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3-1600 kit? Unfortunately, my work doesn't carry that many 6GB kits. Nor X58 boards. Seems we've gone almost entirely P55 based....

I thought so. It was that, or an MSI mATX board, which would look ridiculous in the 800D. We also carry the Intel DX58SO.
