Just started folding with a stock q6600 and was wondering what kind of performance i can expect. Tried the SHF app but when it finished the wu it just crashed and didn't update profile. So right now i'm running the single core app, any idea why the shf crashed ? I just put together a cheap sempron am2 pc, would it be worth while to upgrade to a x2 and have it folding ?

The SMP client is in beta and can be a bit tricky. However it gives you much better PPD. Most of us here run SMP if we can. I'd also check your status. One of my clients crashed but it uploaded before it did.

In my sig you will see an old 939 X2 that is getting 600 PPD. Not huge, but it helps :)

Welcome to the [H]orde. :)

By 'SHF' do you mean the SMP client? You will have to create a username and password if there isn't any already set up on your computer. Other than that it should be a straightforward install. If your system is OC high, it could create sufficient instability to crash the program even if everything else is running fine. If the SMP client is still giving you problems, run 4 standard clients since your processor is a quad-core.

I ment to say SMP client. Quad is stock, and it finished the calculations but crashed after completion.

When the SMP crashed did it show anything in the FAHlog file ?

At the moment the SMP client is running at around 4-5x the PpD of 2x standard clients.
But it does need more babysitting as it is both Beta software and it pushes the hardware harder than the standard client does.

Luck ........ :D
