New to dual monitors, problem setting default

I just bought a new monitor (HP ZR24w, love it, replacing/dual with my old Samsung SM226WB) and have found it generally wonderful now having 2 monitors. I've got things set up fine for the most part now, just one little issue. I set the HP ZR24w to be my main display under Win7 CP. When I turn it off however, it moves everything over to the Samsung, making that the default. It reverts back when the HP comes back on. On the other hand, turning off the Samsung does nothing, computer continues as though it's on. I'm wondering how can I reverse the two?

I want it so it doesn't change anything when the HP is turned off, and so it disables the Samsung when it's turned off. Can this be done?
 
I'm using DVI for the samsung, DP for the HP. I guess I can try moving the samsung to the other DVI. (I'll try that before posting this)

Okay, there appears to be no change by doing that. If I were to use DVI instead of DP I guess that could do it.
