I just put together a new system but it's failing to post.

Intel i7 6900k
Asrock x99 WS
G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 4 x 4GB F4-2666C15Q-16GRR
EVGA Geforce GTX 980ti VGA
EVGA Supernova 850P2 850W 80+ Platinum PSU

The diagnostic is giving an error 53.

I've tried clearing the CMOS and booting with one memory stick. I've tried all four sticks one at a time.

The BIOS version is P1.70, which doesn't support the Broadwell CPUs. Would that keep it from posting?

The GPU fan and CPU fans are turning when I power on.

What else would you try? What else would you like to know?

Thank you!

Yes, that would prevent it from posting. You need to put a compatible cpu in it and flash the BIOS to a version that supports your cpu. Then after flashing you can put your cpu back in

You will need an older CPU in that system to update the BIOS. Some boards can be flashed without a supported CPU in the socket, that bird doesn't appear to have this feature from what I am reading.

Thanks for the input folks. I'll see about getting help from a local PC shop.

I'll post an update on the outcome.

After contacting a half dozen PC shops in the region while not finding a anyone who could help, I contacted Asrock sales support.

They sent me a bios chip, and I got the system to post after swapping it in.
