Hiya guys, I finally ordered all my parts. Here are the specs!

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Retail
BFG Geforce 7800 GTX OC 256MB Retail
Shuttle SN25P Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 FX Retail
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC 3200 Dual Channel Platinum Memory Retail
Maxtor MaXLine III 300GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive OEM (2 of them)
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive OEM

I'll let you know how well the power supply will hold out on this and see what kind of performance it can provide as well. Oh and if the GTX fits.. I guess hehe.

I only missed the part where you talk about which limbs this system cost you- but that's basically what I'm looking at, minus HD's (hide the file/media server in the closet, damnit), after a few price drops.

Well I paid 1700 for the one in my sig. Bought mine Tuesday should have waited because I didn't know the 7800GTX would be out in mass quantities. Oh well I know the OP probably paid about 2000for his.
 
The 7800GTX is going to be a tight fit in an SFF. I have heard that it is at about an inch longer than the 6800's. And, expect it to get hot in there. I don't exactly know how the well the SN25P handles the heat, maybe better than my SN95G5. While the GTX draws a little less power than the 6800U, it still is pretty significant. But from my experience in owning SFF, the SN95G5 at the moment with a 6800, it idles uncomfortably warm. I am in the process of planning a new (mid tower) system for this reason.
I am not trying to discourage you or anything. Just pitching in my two cents. Anyway, I wish you good luck with your new system. And I am happy for you... albeit a little jealous! :D
 
The system was about $2600 including all the shipping and misc components (like Arctic Silver and a pack of Ritek DVD+R's :) ). I think I have 5 seperate boxes coming to me from 3 different stores (dohh!) since I had to place different orders as products came in stock at newegg so the shipping got me a little :p

And I guess Arkanian's was a little less, each of the 300GB hard drives weren't cheap ;)

Yeah, I would be very interested to know how well the 7800 fits in there...definitely keep us posted.
 
Hopefully I will have all this setup by Thursday. At least that's the latest estimated recieve date from all my packages.

Some people think they look ugly- I just think they look serious. They also have 3 years of engineering ahead of the G chassis- including formidable power, cooling, and acoustics, all of which, when combined with Nforce 4 Ultra, make me want an SN25P more than anything else for my next build.

I agree. I won't have my SN25P setup until next week (which is pretty damn quick for where I am I think).
 
I managed to put everything together, got some pictures and only installed windows but I was sooo tired yesterday to upload any. I will try to get somemore software installed (hopefully without trouble.. :p ) and post some tonight.

Media editing? Would guess so with the dual-core, 2GB & .674TB of hard drive space... If not, you should be smacked.

Ordering from different stores is generally a good thing. You don't save money by ordering everything from Newegg as they don't give combo discounts. Understand this peops!

Anyway, that would be close to my ideal system if money were no object...

Yep mainly media encoding actually, mainly H. 264 as well as Divx 6. My current computer is a 2100+ so... it's time for an upgrade ;)

More or less, I am going to get the Same system!

The ONLY thing I was worried about is power.... you sure its enough for the X2... 7800GTX... and 3 Hard Drives...
 
It seems to be ok. I did a semi-stress test. I had Guildwars open, bittorrent with 2 torrents going (each around 50 files and downloading to one of the maxtor), firefox with about 5 tabs open. Norton, Gaim, and other application (Ghost, etc.) open as well. I played Guildwars for about an hour and it seemed to be ok.

I checked my temperature as well and I don't think my cpu went over 55 degrees (but could be wrong) on load and my graphics card was about 77 degrees on load.

Rip 1 DVD to a Hard Drive
Defrag 1 Other Hard drive
Run an instance of Prime 95
Play some music
Download something Big Writing to the 3rd Hard Drive
have about 5 or so web pages open that are heavly flash based
Have a Virus Scan go
Run a really intensive game at full screen

All this at the same time... and if it can handle that for a solid 30 minutes, I will be happy. :)

Wooow... are you really going to be using your computer that heavily? lol

Um... we'll see, but that sounds like torture for my shuttle :(

But what good is the Small Shuttle with 4 SATA ports on the Mobo, a PCIe slot... Room for all that.. and then have the power come up short...

I Just had my doubts about running a X2, 7800GTX and 3 hard drives at one time off a 350Watt PSU. But you showed me it can be done! I just want to see if it holds up under the worst case sceniero
 
Did shuttle include a tool to aid in installing the parts?

Everything was tool-less minus the 2 screws for installing the pci-express graphics card. Other than that, it's very simple and easy to do. I think I'm good enough to put one together in no time! :p

Not on the sn25p. If something fits in there without cutting, installing it is quick and painless.

Seriously, you could populate every slot, every drive bay, put in memory, and cpu, and be done in less than 30 minutes with one of these.

The only normal stuff people have had to mod for are the arctic silencer type coolers for the vid cards, since they interfere with the cpu shroud and the drive cage. Even that only took me 15 minutes with the proxxon.
