just got my new system up and running, got it set at 400x8 for 3.2ghz but it comes up as 400x6 at 2.4ghz in cpuz in both vista 64 and win7. as well in gigbytes easytune and coretemp. the boot screen comes up as 3.2 and ive seen cpuz just back and forth between 400x6 and 8 2.4ghz/3.2ghz whats up with this? ive tried setting it every different way possible and same deal.

system specs:
q9450
gigabyte ud3p
4gb pc6400 gskill

btw what free photo hosing website can i use that will show full res photos?
 
It's Intel Speed Step, a power saving feature which down clocks the processor when it is not in use. You have to go into bios to disable it.
 
if its stable with speedstep on.. id leave it on.. unless you leave your system at full load 24/7.. because the power savings a good feature to have..
