Just seen the RE line has migrated down to 1TB, 500 and 250.

If the platters are the same @800mb then the 250 is only using 1/3 of the platter.
In this sense if they just removed that section speeds should increase due to removed weight, maybe hit the 8K mark.

Another interesting read is the RE line is 512N. As the latest enterprise drive and the push years ago for AF does this make any sense when the similar SE line is AF?

MS states W8 can take advantage of AF in full, 7 and below recognize it but do not benefit from it as well.

As expected the smaller RE4's have dropped in price as expected with the 500 down to $68 which is a steal for last gen enterprise drive in that size and the 250 around only $42
 
35 bucks for new drives, where? Lowest price I've seen yet was through Amazon.
