am getting a new psu and wonder if the dual rail or multiple rails are compounded or added together if using only single rail? been looking at ocz modsteam for single or enermax for dual..
 
You'd be using both rails with that system. The drives, mobo and vid card would be on one rail and the 4 pin (2X2) ATX 12V connector is on the other. The 2X2 powers the CPU. So, you'd be perfectly fine with a dual-rail PSU.
 
Afik the psu im using now is single rail??/
correct me if im wrong.
is double rail not pertaining to more than one video card?
 
A dual 12v PSU has one 12v for processor and one for everything else......I would guess the one you have now is a single 12v. There are a couple of PSU's out now that do have dedicated 12v's for graphics.....but not a lot.
 
Looks like a nice solid PSU. A wee bit strong on the 3.3V and 5V lines so I dunno if that'll lead to any sort of crossloading issues if you should ever happen to add a second vid card but overall it looks like a nice straight forward PSU.

Still looking for a new psu iwould like to get a psu with at least 20+amps on 12v rail(s) ,one that will work for system above and also one that that will perform well in the future builds, upgrades.
need sugestions/opinions

The Enermax you linked to would suit you fine, why not go with it?
 
would like to ensure that a psu would be reliable and have plenty extra for future builds .

I'd imagine that the Enermax would prove to be a better PSU than an equal wattage ModStream. The ModStream is the lower-end PSU offered by OCZ. You seem bent on not buying what looks to be an excelent PSU in favor of something that offers more flash.

Not really just trying to get the best bang for the buck...
I fold with UD 24/7 so i want a descent psu with plenty of life and room for upgrades...
Im just the kind of nut that has to be SURE before I spend my money..
Top that off wife would choke me if I was to buy another psu within the next year....

Okay got the enermax eg651p-ve...
the psu blew in less than 15 minutes....
smole all over the place...
put the tt 480 back in all is fine as far as i can tell...
what the hell is up with that??????????

Just the luck of the draw. Sucks to have happen but not everything is 100%. RMA the Enermax and ask the RMA dept (whomever you RMA it to, store, Enermax...) to use the replacement to post a machine before shipping it to you.
 
I'd RMA it back to newegg then. They're a pretty decent bunch of folks so asking them to post the new PSU just to make certain it's 100% in working condition shouldn't be an issue.
 
RMA it. That's a good power supply - I have one in my file server - and it shouldn't have done that. Mark it up as infant mortality and try the new one. If *that* blows, something's up, but for now assume it's a fluke.
