Greetings, I recently purchased an Antec 1000w true power quattro PSU, upgrading from the Corsair 650w with plans to put in my second 6970 / 2 HDD's and a health overclocky on my i5
Long story short after setting the PSU up the computer was only powering up for about 1-1.5 seconds then turning off, and repeating
After removing mostly all the parts I tested it with just the 6pin and the 24pin atx and the same thing was happening, where as the corsair was fine in this situation
I've just done the paperclip CPU test and the fan does kick up, rather soft but i'm not sure how it's supposed to perform under this DIY test
Where would you go from here? reason I'm asking is to take it back and claim it's faulty would cost me like $80 (Australia) if it turned out to be a user error
Any help greatly appreciated

Do you have another computer you can test the Antec with? I'm thinking there might be an incompatibility between the PSU and the motherboard you're using.

Can that actually happen..?
Unfortunately I don't have another PC
I'm using a fairly standard Gigabyte P55 USB3 mobo

Yes, it's certainly possible that your PSU and motherboard just aren't playing nice together.

Heh crap not really sure what to do then, if it's a problem with my motherboard even though I only got it a few weeks ago then I won't be able to take it back
I have an old P45 with an E8400 in it, can I just levitate it off the surface with some spacers and give that a try? or does that sound wrong

If the surface is wooden or plastic, you could just put the motherboard on it, it won't short. of course, using spacers is safest tho, with regards to static etc.

Tried with the P45 mobo - Worked on startup, I turned it off then turned it back on and it started doing similar problems
Tried hooking it up to my proper system once more (just 6 pin and 24) it powered up and stayed on, so I had some hope, but after adding the GPU it started to fail
So I think it's just a pos. I knew I should have gone with that 850w corsair >_>
Thanks guys
