So I recently ordered a new pc from ibuypower.com (Athlon-64 2800+, Abit KV8 Pro Via-K8T800 Pro, 6800 gt 1024 MB DDR-400 PC3200) and when it I got it and hooked it up nothing happened, the screen was black and all i heard was beeping over and over again. When I called the tech support they said the ram was probably bad so they're sending new ram but I just put in a stick of ddr pc2700 ram from my other pc and Istill get the beeping. Could it be that my mobo doesnt support the ram from my other pc or is it something else wrong and does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to fix this?

It was probably the RAM in the first place - wait until they send the new RAM out. Endless beeping indicates bad RAM - that is what you had. Sticking the 2700 int a 3200 slot won't make it work. So just wait until you get the new RAM.

D00d, did you reset your CMOS? This could've been done by an overclocked setting on the RAM speed. Take that battery out [for 3 seconds] and put it back in.

No, he only just got his system. He didn't have time to OC the machine, so it could not be that. It's bad RAM.

memtest86. Will test, but you can't use it if it won't boot. And there is no physical way to test the RAM either.

also I found that endless beeps means that the video card isn't getting power. I have a faulty power cable hooked to my 9800 pro and sometimes I have to twiddle it to get it to work.

JUST TRY THE CMOS BATTERY THING. It's so easy!!! If it fails, approach to other possibilities to solve the situation. If it was bad RAM, it should STILL boot up and say a warning of ZERO RAM available (I think). In fact, I will try that right now and see how it boots up.

Oh and... I know he didn't OC his system. It just MIGHT happen that the BIOS is set to that clock speed (like 200% of FSB speed). Anything could happen. Even aliens abducting people. Cheese. :D
