new ms mouse

I tried the wireless intellimouse v2, but whoever said the refresh rate was good enough for gaming was, imho, very very wrong. I still really really liked the form factor and the wheel of the mouse. The only place that I could find the corded intellimouse 4.0 was at www.steelpad.com or something like that for 100 bundled with a mousepad. Earlier today, I noticed a link posted in another [h] forum, (http://store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse/) and sure enough, they have it for like 20 bucks. According to reseller ratings they seem a little bit sketchy for ordering high dollar parts, but for 20 bucks (25 including shipping) Ill take a chance for the new intellimouse.

This mouse straight up rocks, even for gaming. I just got the wireless version of this w/ the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro keyboard/mouse set that was just released a lil while back, and it's amazing. Absolutely ZERO lag even in intense online CoD matches, battery life proving great so far, I like it even better than the MX500 that's on my other computer. For $20, it you want/can deal with the cord, GO FOR IT!

Toms hardware has a bunch of stuff here http://www6.tomshardware.com/consumer/20031020/mice-01.html. I bought the wireless version based on the fact that the "word on the street" was that it was awesome for gaming. Once I plugged it in, I got a noticable jerkiness that pretty much drove me crazy. I tried placing the sensor in several diffrent places, and did a lot of experementing with it and my dual optical logitech to figure out if it was me or the mouse. Conclusion: it was the mouse. of course, ymmv, and its totaly possible that it was just my setup. But I dont trust wireless mice in general, so I figured I would just get the corded version. love the mouse design, MS pwns logitech any day of the week in that department.

The MS intellimouse explorer 4.0 <the one I want to find stats on but no such luck yet.>

If it can prove to be a worthy successor to the long-reigning and all conquering MX700, I shall get one as soon as my Logitech dies, even though it doesn't look nearly as cool. The rubber grips on the Logitech and the single piece shell with left and right click buttons is just so damn cool!
