I recently have started to think of updateing my old HD with the new WD Caviar Series 200GB 7200RPM SATA Model WD2000JD. New Egg has it for $121.00 which isnt a bad buy. Now Im wondering would you suggest using the new SATA drive as my primary boot up drive, or should I just stick with the regular PATA/EIDE interface?
Ive been hearing mixed opinions on this lately. Some say that the new SATA is an easier install and has better overall performance and compatibillity. Ive seen others say that they werent able of using the SATA drive as the Boot up disk, and have had reliability issues. So I would like to know what you would suggest. Im planning on using this new SATA HD (if I buy of course) as my primary boot up disk, and taking my old HD and using it to build a Comp for my aunt.
One more thing as a side note I was wondering if any one can tell me how to transfer my data from my old drive to my new one. And if there would be any problems with doing a SATA to EIDE transfer.
