Hi everyone, new here...I have been gaming all of my life, mostly on consoles. I decided to ramp it up a notch. Does this sound like a decent PC to start with?

Intel Core i7-6600k 4 Ghz
Asus Maximus VIII motherboard
G.Skill 16gb DDR4
Samsung EVO 250gb SSD
Western Digital 2TB hard drive
Nvidia 970gtx
Super SC ACX 2.0 video card
Thanks for your comments!

Thank you! I just want something more powerful than I have had. The last time I gamed on a PC was an Apple IIGS lol...this build is in my budget and I am excited. Havent gotten to play the new Witcher yet!

You don't need a 6700k for gaming like you don't need 16 gb ram. The 6600k is a great choice, cold as ice. You could easily go with 8 gigs ram, and try to make an effort to but a 980.

Also, what model of Maximus VIII are you thinking of? You could easily go with the cheapest, the Ranger, as it's more than enough.

fudleyd, please answer the sticky questions that drklu referenced earlier.

They help us determine what we should recommend based on your budget, your gaming (and other) preferences, and what options are available for you.

Get an i5 6600k, a motherboard that doesn't pack quite as many features, start with 8gb of ram, and get yourself an EVGA G2 psu
